Panthers receive WR Diontae Johnson and a 7th-round pick. Steelers receive DB Donte Jackson and a sixth-round pick. Happy to get rid of this cancer and get his salary off the books. You don't win with guys like Johnson.

oh yeah -- his fate was sealed after that warren fumble that he turned his back on. he only finished the season on the roster because of tomlin. unfortunately for us, the steelers have overused their ability to trade wrs away for significant picks after ab, martavis bryant and claypool.

between 2018-2020, russ attempted more passes over the middle than josh allen, prescott, drew brees (!) and had 1 less attempt than aaron rodgers.
I just have to point out this is sort of an odd list. Josh Allen was a rookie in 2018 who barely threw 2000 yards and wasn't much better in 2019. And Dak Prescott missed 11 games in 2020.

Lions have brought in 3 CBs, DJ Reader, INjury prone Marcus Davenport. I feel like they did good without breaking the bank.
Weird how fast that Steelers QB starting gig was going to be a battle....then bam see you Kenny lol

Re: Reader. I think his quad injury will still keep him out most of the year, but if he comes back as his old self he will help in the playoffs.

Cousins should be a good fit in Atlanta. The offense is similar and he was playing lights out before the injury. Assuming that is healed, Atlanta will be much improved.
I was worried when the Vikes grabbed Sam Darnold that they were thinking he could be "the guy" this year. After adding another 1st this year, they are actually positioned nicely to move up and grab a top rookie QB. That'd be something we haven't seen in Minnesota in decades. It better be someone Jet likes though....

Bringing in McCown as QB coach, along with having a former QB as HC, should provide substantial support for a young player entering the team. I have no doubt that the Vikings will acquire a QB via draft, likely opting to have them sit behind Sam Darnold for at least half a season to learn and acclimate. During this period, the Vikings might find themselves a few games below .500. Nevertheless, it is crucial not to rush the development of a young QB, especially if the rest of the roster is somewhat uncertain. Looking beyond 2024, the Vikings will have ample cap room to enhance the roster around a rookie QB who begins to settle in by the end of the 2024 season. With Brian Flores as DC who has few options for obtaining a HC position, the Vikings have stability and the potential to build a formidable defense. Overall, I am highly optimistic for 2025. There remain just two uncertainties: whether Justin Jefferson desires to extend his contract or if the Vikings can negotiate a lucrative deal with a desperate franchise seeking to fill seats. Additionally, there's the question of whether Kwesi will indeed select a talented QB in this draft. If the Vikings secure a capable starter, their success could come sooner rather than later. However, 2024 might prove to be a challenging year for the team.

THERE IS A GOD! oh yeah, these are not our old steelers, rob -- omar is not joking around. good return for diontae and now kenny (essentially 3x 7th rd picks plus 2M in cap space next season). arguably better return than mack jones' trade. i hope the steelers don't pick up najee's 5th yr option. both him and kenny were horrible value picks by colbert.
for all the blame that tomlin gets for not being open to changes, this is a lot more than one would have hoped.

i agree that the vikings are well positioned for the long-term future but it's a risky move by a gm and hc to get rid of a franchise qb like cousins. i think they actually did a poor job -- if cousins wasn't your long-term future, they should have traded him last season. now they get only a late 3rd next season. i think the move will probably set the team back by 2 or 3 yrs, which also happens to be the typical tenure time of gms and hcs. it's not entirely surprising since the qb-wizard hc probably thinks that he can get a good system qb in this draft, but most of the times the move backfires. for every brock purdy there's 10 or 20 sam darnolds and josh rosens.

Certainly, I also believe that certain draft busts might have enjoyed more successful careers if they had landed in better situations. If the Vikings can smoothly integrate a young QB and provide the necessary support, like they could do with Drake May, who was previously coached by McCown in high school, there's no reason why the Vikings couldn't develop similarly to the Texans in 2025. Additionally, the Vikings have a head coach who understands the challenges young QBs face in the NFL, having experienced it himself. Furthermore, the Wilfs tend to be more patient owners, and I could envision them providing the necessary stability for the entire project. While Sam Darnold might never have reached the heights of a Pat Mahomes, had he not been in a disastrous Jets team, he could have developed into a solid starter. After all, many drafted QBs are likely talented enough; coaching and confidence play significant roles to reach their ceilling. So, even if the Vikings only draft a reliable QB who develops into a Cousins 2.0 or an Alex Smith type of guy, they still have him under a rookie contract for four years. During this time, they can invest in building a really strong roster. Moreover, the Vikings still boast promising players like LT Darrisaw, WR Jefferson, WRE Addison, and TE Hockenson. While I acknowledge the risks involved, and agree that trading Cousins might have been more beneficial, let's consider the alternate scenario: if Cousins hadn't been injured last season and continued to perform well, who knows what might have been possible? There was still hope for the Vikings to make a successful playoff run, as the goal was to undergo a competitive rebuild, which they've attempted. Trading away everyone to secure a handfull of viable pick was never part of the plan, as it's challenging to sell to fans, especially with talented veterans still on the roster.
