Write ups outstanding:
DT Cheuse - Jeremy CB McWilliams - Kev WR Dunn - Rob?
New process rule will be rolling out which will lead to some of the recently discussed candidates becoming ineligible. Add 1 year to those numbers below I think.
QB Hartman (1st year) QB Delcorio (6th year) WR Lane (2nd year) DE Blake (10th year) DE Hancock (7th year) LB Connell (7th year) S Banks (17th year) S Gibson (23rd year) S McAllister (5th year) CB Newhart (16th year) S Pryor (24th year) CB Claiborne (23rd year) S Gonzalez (1st year) LB Plyler (1st year) T Eisner (1st year)
Ideally I would like someone to step in and oversee this. I can see us going off on a tangent and discussing ineligible players otherwise. Hildy?
We have some big names entering the process this year:
WR Shaun Benzer LB Ernest Blackburn C Elliot Kennedy RB Alfredo McQueen WR Gage Bowser WR Earnest Talley CB Harvey Myers CB Kaden Mills DE Dillon Sloan DE Gus Jenkins
Post if you want in this season. Anyone is welcome, now is the time to shout.

QB Hartman (2nd year) QB Delcorio (7th year) WR Lane (3rd year) DE Hancock (8th year) LB Connell (8th year) S McAllister (6th year) S Gonzalez (2nd year) LB Plyler (2nd year) T Eisner (2nd year) WR Shaun Benzer (1st year) LB Ernest Blackburn (1st year) C Elliot Kennedy (1st year) RB Alfredo McQueen (1st year) WR Gage Bowser (1st year) WR Earnest Talley (1st year) CB Harvey Myers (1st year) CB Kaden Mills (1st year) DE Dillon Sloan (1st year) DE Gus Jenkins (1st year)
This would be the updated list of available players based on who Nick added in the initial post. I've removed all players that are no longer eligible since we instituted the 10 year ballot limit (Corbin Blake nooooooo). I can probably keep track of the eligibility years if Nick posts the list of players at the beginning of the thread as usual. I can see this list becoming long if we keep adding players every year unless some players get removed if they are getting no buzz for the Hall.

Some early thoughts on the WRs, Benzer, Talley and Bowser.
I certainly think Benzer merits 1st ballot discussion. I think the downside is he always looked no.2 for Dunn for me, and that is a big deal. I don't have any doubt he is a HOFer, but 1st ballot? Hard to give him that nod when his teammate was noticeably better.
Talley's stats are not as impressive as I expected. Certainly not 1st ballot for me. Lane, Battle and Johnson are the gate keepers for me. Maybe Lane is the pick of the 3. Is Talley better?
I don't think Bowser is going to make it. Quality player, but if anything I don't think he can even match the gate keepers.

Benzer is 100% first ballot. Not even a discussion worth having imo. Has the rings, all the stats. Better than Grayvil and Shelton who were both also 1st ballot

I think there is a discussion to be had though. Grayvil and Shelton were the best WR's in the league before Dunn and Sinclair, who have since raised the bar.
(I am not saying I wouldn't vote first ballot for Benzer, just saying that I am currently on the fence)

I was with you until you said he was better than Grayvil. Benzer is a completely different WR without Dunn on the other side of him. Still deserves 1st ballot imo.

Or is Dunn the same WR without Benzer??? He never played without Benzer but I’d guess he was better with a 70+ WR on the other side of him. But Benzer averaged like 7 ypt without Dunn. Still think he’s a 1st ballot HoF’er. But Dunn, Grayvil, and Sinclair are all above him in mind.

1st ballot is best of the best right? We saw Benzer play with Dunn and Dunn was clearly better.

I’m sorry, longevity counts. He’s played more games at WR than anyone. 20k + yards, 207 TDs, at a measly 24.6% target %, which is significantly lower than anyone else in the top 15 WRs.
Gotta be 1st ballot without thought. If not, then I’m in the same boat as rob, and really questioning what the actual thought process is.
edit: and he’s miles ahead of anyone in all purpose yards. Literally. 4400 yards, that’s over a mile
