Lol, all you yanks (not Jamie and nick) fawning over some average kicker. I’d dare say many rugby stars here could punt just as far, and kick at goal too… possibly every rugby union team would have a guy or two that could Lol, what a load of crap. There are dozens of rugby style punters in college and they never make it to the pros because they cant kick it far enough. It’s really not though 😂😂😂 I’ll find videos of these rugby dudes punting. Just because there are some in college doesn’t mean they are the good rugby players. Good rugby players don’t step near the NFL as it’s too much of a girls game for them

Seriously, if you have 7 minutes, watch these. While remembering these guys all run, pass, tackle, and never take plays off, as that isn’t what happens. And then still do this at a higher level than any American football kicker…
Just saying

The rugby ball was literally designed to be kicked. The football was designed to be thrown. Ask anyone who's kicked it and they'll tell you its awkward. It'd be like comparing arm strength by watching some guys throw a baseball vs guys throw a soccer ball.
If it really were as cut an dry as you think, there would be loads of rugby guys in the NFL because they would be getting paid much better. Johnny Hekker literally just punts the ball a couple times a game as he gets paid twice as much as the highest paid rugby player.
As for girliness, although I think it's silly to bring up as both sports are plenty dangerous already but the severity of the injuries in football higher than rugby.

I think you’ll find in rugby, that a lot of them won’t even contemplate the NFL. Rugby is steeped in so much history, and a lot of them play for the love of the game instead of the money. The idea of getting ‘caps’ for a nation, will outweigh money for a lot of these guys. World cups, and all of that. There is so much more in rugby than money. If you’ve kicked a rugby ball, it’s not designed to be kicked at all. And I don’t know why you’d think that. I’ll admit it is easier to kick, but not by much. And it’s also heavier than a football. And the fact that most of these kicks are within the play of game makes them even more impressive. As for girliness, you don’t get the gimps you have in the NFL playing rugby. No one dancing as they celebrate, no one making rude or inappropriate comments or actions. It’s a proper gentleman’s game, played in an ruthless yet respectful way. A large proportion of the NFL is too much like our soccer for me Fwiw, longest drop goal (so it has to bounce before it’s kicked, and the play is running) is: 84 yards Longest kick at goal (off ground) is: 70 yards Cant find the longest punt, but I’d assume with a drop goal being 84 yards, that it’d eclipse 100

Ok, this is the only other video I’ll put up, and it’s one kick, and it is absurd. Ball must travel close to 80 metres in the air alone

Well if pretty much all the rugby guys can kick this well you would think that one scrub over the years would find his way to the NFL and kick the ball out of the stadium. Hasn't happened yet.
Sounds like British propaganda to me...

Sounds like British propaganda to me... Im not saying all, I am saying probably one guy per team can... Not all. The issue is, the rugby players you have come over are scrubs. A Francois Steyn would easily punt, kick, and play middle linebacker, and Running back... And before it's british propaganda, Steyn is south african ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Have you guys seen the Ulster rugby team train with the Jags, the flyhalf they have there kicks the american football so easily. And the guy that kicks says he wouldn't want to play american football as just kicking a ball is too boring.

And soccer has more injuries than both ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) This is true, they act like this. However they do also have more genuine injuries because it is a highly intensive game physiologically
