As you know league average rushing ypc in the NFL is pretty easy to replace...too easy really. I feel for the young blokes who are sacrificing their health and not really getting paid for it.
As one example I think having a more than three D-backs in the top 96 (i.e. 3 x 32) is pretty difficult for an NFL team to do and when they do manage to do it without spending too much cap the difference it makes is significant

Most people when they say 'best player available' aren't quite saying what they mean. I think in most instances what they mean is 'scarcest skillset available', or put differently 'hardest-to-replace player available' which would make a lot more sense. That's certainly what I try to think about it when drafting, FWIW.
that's an interesting point -- but if that's what they mean i'll play some devil's advocate (re: NFL, not FOF)
- aren't all positions more or less equally hard to replace? - if people mean hardest-to-replace available, should a RB ever figure in the top 100?
I agree. RB is the easiest to replace position, and shouldn't be drafted in the top 100, where conversely, a smart, run blocking C is harder to grab, and should go higher.

This is golden. I always use BPA in my mocks and reviews. I use it more in term of how my board lays out. BPA also in a draft to me has to take into consideration the positional bias also. Great WR or QB>HOF Center or Guard

I draft by need. If my need position is not there I look into drafting top positions next, then over to BPA.
