An RZB executive is claiming the Panthers are entertaining serious trade offers for their young superstar quarterback. Reports from the end of last season suggested that Ron Rivera and Cam Newton were mortal enemies in the Panthers' locker room. The general sentiment was that the Panthers would remove Rivera from his position, but the Front Office has not yet taken a side. If they decided to go the other route, Newton would command a substantial package, most likely from one of Houston, San Francisco, St. Louis, Buffalo, or Cleveland. An insider from the AFC North claims Carolina turned down an offer for Cleveland involving Joel Bitonio, Josh Gordon, and Justin Gilbert. If that report is accurate, we could be seeing the biggest blockbuster in the league history any day now.

Recently traded CB, Phillip Gunsolus posted a message on twitter this afternoon:
The fact that Newton has not been dealt yet, only leads me to believe the offers were not enough, or the two teams will be in a drawn out bidding war.

John Clayton is reporting that the Jaguars may be the mystery team in this sweepstakes. Clayton claims tht 1.3 pick, Dante Fowler would headline the package that includes tackle, Luke Joeckel. Whether this information is correct is still to be determined, as the Panthers front office has been stone silent on the rumors.

I think Carolina's just grabbing headlines in a bid to appear on the next season of Sweatsocks.

Panthers coach, Ron Rivera, finally broke the silence in a local radio interview with Chris McClain of WFNZ The Fan.
"Chris, I've got to tell you," said Ron Rivera in his typical somber tone, "We had no intention of ever trading Cam Newton. The hostility at the end of the season was staged. It was a guise to keep the media's attention off our losing record, and place the attention on something of zero relevance. Meanwhile, the initial trade rumors were intentionally leaked out by our PR department to help build Cam's brand. Instead, what we found was legitimate trade interest from St. Louis, Buffalo, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Miami, Cleveland, Atlanta, and Jacksonville. I spoke with Cam this morning and told him, look, you have done fantastic things for our city, but that season in your life is over. Start packing your bags son, you will be traded TODAY. There has been at least one offer that has been substantial enough to move a young superstar quarterback, and I expect a few more to roll in today now that the competitors know the current top bid. I will let the media speculate over where he will be heading, but I can tell you this much, it is time to see thank you and goodbye to Cam Newton."
This is breaking news, and we will keep you updated as the situation progresses.

Word out directly from Cardinals top brass: "Stay out of our division Cam. Your dancing ways and shiny white teeth are not welcome here."
