1.5 Nicholas Curtis (7/45) (11/42) (11/38)
After trading up at the cost of 1.18, 3.12 and a 1st next year I was hoping for more and still am. If he becomes a legit starter, it'll be a decent deal, but that's looking like a big if at this point. I see SR at 80-95 and he's on a 0 tab (Did he even play in college?). Unless he absolutely booms, he's likely to sit behind Strickland learning the ropes in his rookie season.
TC - Took a bit of a dip. Hopefully better news after ex2
Ex2 - Possibly my worst pick ever in any league, considering the capital given up to acquire. Likely to have a very short career and a lot of cap hit swallowed. One caveat is his SR might make him a better QB than his ratings. Will be watching his performance closely in pre-season.
2.13 Stan Evans DE (27/62) (34/61) (34/62)
More suited for a 34 DE, but he's got elite speed for the position and great PRT potential for someone his size (6'5" 305). I'm hoping he can slim down a bit, but he will definitely be part of the dline rotation from day 1.
TC - Wasn't able to lose weight, and I'm set at DT, so probably going to be a monster DE this season.
Ex2 - He's what I thought he was, but wasn't able to lose weight. Will play this season as a monster DE and be trade bait moving forward or will move to the inside if Burroughs or Brock are traded first.
3.16 Dakota Bagette T (20/50) (25/48) (25/48)
I like his bars for a LT, but might be dumb as a loaf of bread. We'll see.
TC - Slight drop in future.
Ex2 - Not the best pick I could have made here. He'll make the squad, though.
4.6 Lorenzo McWilliams CB (34/61) (39/63) (41/70)
Possibly my best pick of the draft. Even better that it was with the pick I got from the Steelers for Reid Scioli. Will likely start from day 1.
TC - Looking like my best pick by far.
Ex2 - Looks like a playmaker. Only gripe is low endurance. Easily the best pick of my draft.
4.17 Dan McNeil WR (18/46) (22/46) (29/50)
No combine and low DD and BPR. High RR and 3DC. Also high solecismic and PD. Got a feeling about this guy which is likely completely unwarranted. I think he'll be useful, in any case.
TC - Status Quo
Ex2 - No GD or END to speak of, but he looks like he has a shot at being a good 3rd down WR. Not sure how to make that happen efficiently with my current playbook, though.
4.17 Perry Reinhart RB (27/42) (30/42) (27/37)
Had some bars where I wanted them. Nothing special.
TC - Status Quo
Ex2 - Hot Garbage
5.15 Lewis Strickland T (27/52) (27/54) (27/54)
Likely moving to guard. Initial test shows ratings boost. I like strong pass blockers on the interior, and he's definitely that, even if his RB doesn't look great.ht
TC - Moved to Guard. Slight bump in future.
Ex2 - Not the vest run blocker, but that blocking strength and PB future will make him sound against the pass rush.
6.14 Johnnie Moorman WR (22/35) (24/33) (27/35)
Going to keep swinging until I find one.
TC - Slight drop
Ex2 - Hot Garbage
7.13 Zack Foret DE (38/53) (43/51) (42/50)
Was 38/43 as a LB. Drafted with the intent of moving due to size and bars. If he holds, very good value here.
TC - Holding well after move to DE.
Ex2 - Run support and decent bull rush. He'll make the team as a 7th round pick.
7.23 Donovan Dragos RB (36/40) (38/42) (38/42)
Short yardage back.
TC-Slight bump in Future
Ex2 - Will fill the role he was drafted for.
Initial Thoughts:
Got a few starters and some decent role players. This draft really hinges on the QB deal working out. Also didn't get the kind of quality WR I still need, and had the RB's I really wanted taken out from under me and went with contingency options in their place. Not crazy happy with the draft at this point, but not too disappointed, either.
Post TC:
No huge movements in either direction. Ex2 will be key.
Post Ex2:
Came in with a lot of draft capital and mostly squandered it where it mattered. The kind of draft to set a franchise back a few years.
