Once again, it's your homeboy Coach Snoop and I'm going to break down this week's games. The 2059 Red Zone Blitz postseason continues to move forward as we're now down to our final four who will do battle for the right to play in Blitz Bowl XLVI and hoist the BearGrowlz Trophy. Last week's game proved to have plenty of drama and produced some stunning results with upsets of the top two seeds who were also our bowl participants last year. Looking forward these four teams have fought to get to this point and they're all worthy of the ticket to the big game.
CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK
Kansas City (13-6) at Houston (14-3)
This is a good old fashion throwback game as these two GMs love the 1920's style ground and pound and have had a tremendous amount of success playing that way over the years throughout the FOF universe. The Chiefs are fresh off a 19-17 upset at the 15-1 Steelers house so they've already proven that they're not afraid to play on the road. The Texans knocked off the Raiders 28-20 on the back of RB Jay McDaniel who ran for 228 yards on 28 carries for a whopping 8.32 YPC to lead the day. They also officially have a QB controversy on their hands as they started journeyman and former Chiefs QB Richard Henn over their young franchise QB Ernie Upshaw. Head Coach Mel Faria said that Henn's experience and leadership were important factors in his decision, but it ultimately came down to Henn protecting the ball. The Chiefs have their own wily veteran under center as Brock Dixon had a career season in year 17 tossing 42 TDs. WR Ernie Workman is the Chiefs top offensive weapon and should give DB Efrain Cyr a great challenge. The Texans are a 3 point favorite at home this week. I like them to win outright by a score of 28-17 as Juggy leads the Texans to their first bowl appearance since 2031 which resulted in a victory for Dan Pozzuoli which cemented his spot in the HOF.
All-Time Series: The Chiefs hold the advantage in this series 21-10.
Notable: These two teams have not met in the playoffs since 2046 when the Chiefs won 32-10.
Postseason History:
2046 Chiefs defeat Texans 46-10
2035 Texans won 16-10
2031 Texans won 31-13

Washington (12-6) at Green Bay (14-3-1)
This is a game that I am excited to see as both of these teams are coming off impressive performances where they both looked the part of legit contenders as the Commanders beat the defending champs 45-37 and they scored 41 in the Wild Card game so they have plenty of firepower to square up with the Packers who are also coming off a 54 point performance against the Buccaneers to advance to the conference championship game. The Commanders are led by longtime starter Butch Garrison who appears to have finally put it all together this year after so many years of underachieving. The Packers starting QB is JJ Baxter who is one of the best QBs in the game at protecting the ball. I like both of these GMs and teams a lot and I think both are worthy of a trip to the bowl, but I must go with the Washington Red.. I mean, football team, er, I mean Commanders or whatever the fuck their name is these days to win a close one 31-28 to advance to their first bowl game in franchise history.
All-Time Series: The Packers hold the advantage in this series 12-7.
Notable: This is only the 8th time that Washington has qualified for the playoffs and their first time that they advanced to the conference championship game. The Packers on the other hand are making their 16th postseason appearance, but this is their first trip since 2056. QB JJ Baxter has not performed well in his two career postseason games with a 1-1 record and 3 TDs and INTs. Garrison is 3-3 in the postseason, but has played much better tossing 8 TDs to only 1 INT and an impressive 112.5 QBR.
Postseason History:
2022 Washington defeated Green Bay 29-22
