For me it depends. I don’t mind SP if it’s as immersive as FM. Just don’t see that being the case though

Very disappointing. But Jim always said the MP community is a tiny fraction of the revenue stream. So from a business standpoint it might make sense.
I will buy it in any case. But honestly, I don't have high hopes. It would have to be a huge jump to make playing SP worthwhile.
He did also say if MP ever came it likely wouldn't be backward compatible. So perhaps it saved a really tough decision which could of split the RZB community.

I share in some of the disappointment on the lack of multi-player
One thought, though - his idea that the eventual MP state would be server-based is a big takeaway that we haven't focused on as of yet. IMO, that's the way for this game to have a real future... the company/developer can make ongoing money and have pressure to keep game innovations coming if he moves away from the "sell razors" model, to the more promising "sell blades" model.
He's a dinosaur, still thinking about selling 3,000 copies at $40 to clear $80K or somesuch. Instead, he ought to be thinking about developing a great game that 500 people want to play at a cost per season. Connect that to a nominal charge for each hosted season and it's the real winner for both seller and buyer, I think.

If he wants to go Netflix monthly charge. Most of us could do it, but a lot won't.

absolutely -- the fact that he proposes a very specific solution (server-based + new product) is encouraging. what i will do is buy the game on the first day, test, (hopefully that blows my mind, the screenshots look good but AI is key in SP), and feedback to solecismic on mp architecture for sustained income

yeah i wouldn't blame him if that's the way for mp -- we've played this game for about 7 yrs for 40 bucks. once the development is done, server costs are ultra low for a basic service (we need to upload a file smaller than a picture). we need no frontend like ben has in ihof since the graphics and info look pretty good. i'd guess that a product so good as fof9 mp could be marketed quite widely for $5/month.

The only good thing I can see coming out of this is that there will be new people brought into the game. They may see that MP is where it's at and jump into an FOF8 league.

Wishful thinking Rob. I'm not retiring soon, so SP won't be on my radar. I don't care how good it may be. If it were not for you guys, I'd have been gone long ago. If it's time, then so be it. At the point of, if my dollars don't really matter (or never did), I'll spend them elsewhere.

Obviously Jim knows jack shit about his customer base. Never has really cared.
sorry wolf but i respectfully disagree. i have a much shorter experience interacting with jim and solecismic than most of you (2017 onwards), but in my case i've always had superb response time and good interaction with costumer support. good exchanges when doing bug reports etc. specifically regarding mp, i've filed some bug reports and i've only been able to play in some great historical leagues like ihof, rzb, tfl, cyfl etc due to jim's generosity of converting league files in a timely manner and for free.
(i don't mean to add another controversy to my rzb resume, but i felt these things should be pointed out)

I don't think anyone would disagree that Jim created something that we all love and have spent countless hours enjoying and are very much grateful for. It's just disappointing for sure and to the long-timers to the game, it does feel like a betrayal considering that the MP community has been his greatest champions over the years. No way he makes it on Steam without us. Not even possible. Then he does and says he sold the code only to pop a SP game out of nowhere is a HUGE kick in the nuts IMO. I also agree that Jim did a ton of updates for free, but that is really the business model for games these days. Rush it out and patch, patch, patch... gamers are used to it at this point. Lastly, it's not our fault that he has had shoddy business practices for so long and allowed us to play the game for so long for $40. I would personally pay WAAAAY more considering the time and enjoyment this game has provided over the years, but I can't in good conscience give him any of my hard earned money (I'm of the opinion that you vote with your dollar) on this endeavor. Yeah, there might not be an FOF10 if he doesn't make enough from FOF9, but I never expected FOF9, so I'm not going to reward him for producing a product that I won't play based on past experiences with the old game. I can appreciate those that are, but I just don't have it in me. I can also appreciate those of you that have a different perspective and want to support him with this, but for me... I can only say FUCK FOF9 and Fuck Jim for not adding MP. There I said it, and I'll say it again and again because someone needs to and I have no problem banging the drum. You all know, I have plenty of asshole in me. I just chose not to have that Rob make an appearance these days, but he's coming back with a vengeance on this one. For the record, I love you Zach (you should know that by now) and you're welcome to speak your mind with no judgement on my end as our the rest of the GMs of this fine league that we have thanks to Jim Gindin.
