My first piece of news for the off-season is i believe we have a new GM joining us in Carolina, these boots (Daniel) is very likely to be running the team during the season as a Coach Pip moves upstairs to a GM role dealing with trading and drafting, though the final contract has yet to be agreed. Please do not welcome "These Boots here" I am sure a thread will be up else where soon.

I caught up with the Raiders GM after his defeat in the Wildcard today at the hands of the Chiefs and asked him some questions An 11-5 season and your third consecutive AFC Title, it seems you own the division at present , you have to be pleased with that? Hi Adam, we are very pleased with winning the Division again, but i don't feel we were great this year. We beat 3 playoff teams , the Steelers, 49'ers and Chiefs but lost to the Titans and Rams and we never really played great. Losing 3 of 4 at the end of the season when we looking like having a good chance of home field advantage really put the writing on the wall. In the end we just got the title with a last minute OT win. We will need to improve in the off-season thats for sure.
Your pass defense was the best in the league, why do you feel that was. Yardage wise it was great which was immesnly pleasing but last year we had 29 picks, this year only 15 so we almost halfed our total. If we'd have got more picks we'd had won more games. But they were great and did their job well it was other area's on the team that were not so good. Why were they good, well we've shared that knowledge before, we play a set scheme and it works!
The final five games of the season you really dropped losing 4 of them including the wildcard game, why do you think that happened. The injury to our star HB Banks did not help for sure but thats not the reason. Our run defense i think suffered and played below average and that enabled teams to run the ball well on us. We also turned it over much more than we usually do, lastly we seemed to ship a few ST TDs which is a worry as our ST are normally really good. Like i say we have work to do int he off-season.
Who was your MVP and why. As you know we consider oursleves as a team with no real superstars. Every one plays their part but if i had to choose 1 guy it was WR Jason Perez , he caught 70% of balls, had 9 TDs all at a decent ypc.
The Wildcard loss to your rivals the Chiefs. Well this one hurts, Banks played hurt and that certainly limited our run game. The 54 yard PR TD by them really hurt after we were 7 up. I though we were poor int he 2nd half offensively , no points and we never really look like scoring any, you have to say well doen to the Chiefs Defense for that but we really need to be scoring at least 3 or 7 points in half. Maybe its time to go and spend big on a superstar.
Your 38-10 over the last 3 seasons and 0-3 in the playoffs , why is that? I have no fucking clue Adam , if you know let me know and we'll sign you on a nice juicy contract!

I caught up with the Eagles GM Mellman after his defeat in the Wildcard today at the hands of the 49'ers and asked him some questions? A 10-6 season easily got you a playoff berth. You started brilliantly 5-0 going toe to toe with Cowboys but a 3 game losing spell while the Cowboys won 3 really ended your season as far as the Division title went, is that a fair assumption, if so what went wrong in those 3 games? Always happy to answer questions, excuse me as I wipe the tears from my eyes following todays WC loss. I always find the start of the season to be difficult to predict, we were running a completely re-made offence this year and I think perhaps that caught our initial opponents off guard. However, in those early wins we had plenty of close games and I think in our losses that was where the luck run out and good teams beat us on their home turf. Road games are always tough and you can't afford to be inefficient or make mistakes, unfortunately we were guilty of both of those things at times. The Cowboys have far more firepower than we do on offense with their new acquisitions from FA/Trades/Draft and their offense could hurt anyone on any given day, we needed things to go our way on a day for us to be able to hurt people, that was ultimately the difference I feel. Plus their defence was good whilst ours was total ass.
If we look at the stats you're clearly a passing team, but defense was perhaps the worry as your pass defense was 31st in the league, why was that and is that a main area to concentrate on in the off season? I think it's fair to say that we are poor in both defensive categories, we do not put enough pressure on the passer and allow too much time for people in the pocket. Then when people choose to run the ball our front 7 struggles to stop that with any sort of conviction. Both of those fundamental issues are a recipe for disaster. We have some talent, we had a good amount of interceptions on the season (11 against Faria in 2 games alone) however you can't rely purely on turnovers to keep your defence competent. We'll be looking to try and address the Dline to see if we can add some 'ear pinners' to make life a little less comfortable for opposing QBs. Alternatively, if anyone can see any glaring flaws in my defence that I fail to myself, then I'm all ears.
Even though your pass defense was not the best you managed a +18 turnover margin the best in the league including 28 picks, congrats on that. What was key here? The key is that we covet ball hawks in the secondary, I like DB's who have a nose for the ball. FS Pietrazak is a prime example of that and lead the team with a career high 7 INT (2 returned for a TD), defensive captain SS Rome had 6 and rookie OLB Walsh chipped in with 4 himself.
Herrington had alot of yards and TDs but his pass completion was low considering how good he is, who's that on the GP, the receivers or what? I guess it's a combination of all of those things, as I say this year was a totally reworked GP - we try to hit several key metrics at all times but I'm learning too as a GM, so there's plenty to try to refine and improve, it's important to know how to accurately diagnose things though. In terms of personnel we'd love to add a bit more talent to take some of the pressure off Anstaett, currently our supporting cast can best be described as adequate and nothing more - with receivers being the flavour of a lifetime in this league it's always tough but we're going to need to do it whilst Herrington is still in his prime.
Many thought and many suggested that you went after a big time WR such as Goetz who the Buccs got from the Cardinals, do you regret making a move for him, explain your thoughts I always regret not being a GM who makes a big trade when I see it, I think that's only natural, everyone wants to make those potentially franchise altering moves. After the last RZB show a WR was on a lot of peoples lips but ultimately we decided that it would be best to play a more medium term game and that a stud receiver ultimately can never be taken for granted we have a number of problems and it's not as simple as making one trade and we're in the bowl. We wish him well in Tampa and trust that WilleB will do great work with him.
The Wildcard defeat, you went to the 9-7 49'ers with most pundits feeling this game was pretty equal but you lost heavily 45-28 what went wrong? They run the ball well, they pass the ball well. We don't defend well and can't stop a nosebleed so it was always a case of having to be efficient on the other side of the ball - they were the better team on the day and this just confirmed that we have problems we knew we had all season. I know there are two good GM's there in SF and they have the makings of a great team, that's a dangerous combo and they out performed and out coached us today. Congratulations to them and good luck for the rest of their post season.
As always, we reload and go again - always work to do. Go Birds!

I'm glad I don't have to play Philly again because I'm honestly scared to throw the ball against them after our last game. I recommend Tom have his players focus less on picking off passes and more on allowing easy completions like the Commanders do.

I caught up with the Titans GM DT after his defeat in the Wildcard today at the hands of the Bengals and asked him some questions? . You've now won the Division 4 years running and can be considered as a AFC Power house, congratulations! The first three seasons you won the division with ease, this year it went down to the wire with Texans going into week 17 at the top of the division. Firstly how does it feel to be the GM of a powerhouse and secondly tell us about the the up and downs of the divisional race this year?Hey Adam, always great to be talking to you though I'd hoped we could have put it off for a few weeks .Houston certainly gave us a run for our money and we had to get some lucky results down the stretch to recapture our title. Any time you win the division multiple times in a row you're going to have a target on your back, but this season more than any other we really didn't feel deserving of the title. Houston came out of the gates a little hit and miss, likely finding their feet with the new GM but by mid-season they were firing on all cylinders and rocked us on the way to a 7 game winning streak. At that point all we could do is try to play catch-up and hope for some help. A powerhouse we are not. It seems you have a new threat in the division, the Texans under Juggernaught. Do you feel they are the team to beat now in the division and what are your thoughts on the super stacked Jags?Juggs certainly came in strong with his first season. He came into a great situation with the rebuild that the previous GM had been working on there, he's got a stud QB and RB and pieces all over the place to work with, I don't doubt he'll be winning division titles sooner than later. On paper the Jags should be the team to beat with all that talent and (not looking but guess) I'm sure tons of high picks coming down the pipeline to strengthen it even more. It's really just a question of when that flip is going to be switched, but your guess is as good as mine there. You didn't ask about him but Wack shouldn't be written off either, everyone saw what he could do to build an offense around Wilibanks when he was here and dominate the division, it may just take that one guy being available for him to shoot back up the standings.
Your QB Lamont Daniel has finished in the top 3 rated QBs for the last 2 years, his rating is not great but his bars are. What's been the secret to him over the last few years and how highly do you rate him?I don't think there's really any secret to using him, it's really been matching up receivers with skills that compliment his and trying to give him the latitude to play the game the way he wants to. As good friend-of-the-show El Gato Gordo might say, it comes down to listening to what some of the smarter GMs around the way put on the radio and trying to use that as a blueprint for what we do in the offseason to put him in the best position to succeed when the pigskin starts flying. I'd definitely rate him pretty highly for what we want to do. A few GM's had asked about him in the season or two following drafting him and there was really no thought in our head about trading him. He's probably not everyone's cup of tea, and he's definitely not one of these elite guys coming out in the top-3 of drafts, but he can throw short-intermediate, has some pocket presence and can pick up yards with his legs every now and then, and most importantly he doesn't put the ball in harms way and he's able to make a defense pay for its mistakes. Rookie (taken at 1.7) Rickie England has been an absolute sensation for you, over 1400 on the ground for you, the leagues leader of yards from scrimmage and rookie of the year. Tell us about him?Yeah, he's been great. We really loved his ability to find a hole and run routes out of the backfield when he was coming out and we paid the divisional tax to go get him. He had a few games this season that he took over either as a runner or a pass catcher, and we fully expect that to only increase as he fully develops and the offensive line in front of him starts to settle and gel. A lot has been riding on Nichols arm and it's good to be able to take some of that pressure off of him. We heard earlier from the Raiders GM who's gone 0-3 in the playoffs over the last 3 years, you've actually gone one worse at 0-4 , 3 of those games by a combined total of just 5 points, what the hell has to happen for you win a game or perhaps just get some luck?Your guess is as good as mine. My one consolation is two of the times we lost (by a combined total of 3 points) the team that beat us went on to win the bowl. Maybe this year will prove to be 3/4 for that particular factoid. If we get past those first games do we inherit the results? We haven't done a single thing to demonstrate that we would, but it's a nice thought that helps me sleep at night, and you can't take it away from me. Ok!? SO STOP TRYING!!!!!! *ahem* Sorry about that, been a tough day around these parts. On to todays wild card game, a tough loss by just 2 points, you had a FG blocked in the 4th quarter and then they get kick a 50 yard FG to win it by 2 points. You've been reasonably balanced on offense all season but today you passed alot, was that the plan? Also tell us about those FGs (trying to to swear)It's been a bit of a season-long experiment trying to find the right balance as we work in our new RB to our gameplan, and I don't know that we ever really got there. I think we would have liked to have run it a bit more, but we were also a bit worried about the injury he's been carrying and that, combined with having to shuffle around some of our OL and CIN coming in with the #1 defense against the run, had us a bit leery to try and lean on the young guy on the ground too much. I really don't want to talk about the FG's. Mathis is fine. Don't go looking for him. He's fine.

Thank you for doing this Bylanta Wow, I sucked at this quiz - it was fun though. I only got 1 answer right and even that I got wrong because I'd put the city and nickname instead of just the nickname lol.
