1.19 DT Cedric Yeung, Iowa St., 73% developed, 6'3" 312 lbs. 23 yrs. old
LFA: 55/73
PTC: 61/72 (+6/-1)
PS2: 60/74 (-1/+2)
Interview: O
I got autoed on this pick, so I didn't get the positional value I would have liked. I probably would have gone with DE Patten or taken a chance on WR Hodges, but it's hard to complain too much about taking a 73 peak, day 1 starter in the 1st.
Decent value, but not very flashy. Yeung should eat up a lot of playing time as our NT in the coming years.
In hindsight, I would have preferred DE Patton or WR Hodges, but Yeung will start for us week 1 and anchor our DL for the for the future.
2.18 T/G Jorge Briseno, Wisconsin, 32% developed, 6'7" 332 lbs. 21 yrs. old
LFA: 25/50
PTC: 28/53 (+3/+3)
PS2: 29/52 (+1/-1)
Interview: AS
Went with positional value here instead of need. Briseno looks like he will have useful bars, but we may move him around on the line to find him a spot to play.
Position change gives Briseno a small bump. Could be a decent interior pass protector.
Solid player. Briseno will be our main backup G or a starter in a pinch.
3.23 DE Justin Ferrari, Wake Forest, 33% developed, 6'3" 267 lbs. 24 yrs. old
LFA: 18/50
PTC: 22/50 (+4/0)
PS2: 22/49 (0/-1)
Ferrari is a quality edge rusher with a bit of talent in other areas. Very light compared to the rest of my DL, so he could give us a change of pace in our pass rush.
Decent pass rusher, but Ferrari's endurance limits him to a rotational spot.
Ferrari will be a very good backup DE. He should see some playing time in pass first situations this season.
3.31 DT/DE Toby Brennan, Nebraska, 36% developed, 6'2" 298 lbs. 21 yrs. old
LFA: 12/46
PTC: 17/46 (+5/0)
PS2: 16/39 (-1/-7)
A pass rush specialist at DT means a backup DE for me. Brennan fits the size and skill set of our DL scheme.
Another decent pass rusher, but Brennan also has very limited upside.
Brennan has his uses as a backup, but I think his time with the team will be limited.
4.11 ILB Warren Boselli, Washington St., 42% developed, 6'0" 243 lbs. 22 yrs. old
LFA: 16/50
PTC: 21/48 (+5/-2)
PS2: 21/43 (0/-5)
Not a flashy pick, but a useful ILB. We may move Boselli to OLB to get him more playing time, but his endurance will limit him to a rotational role.
Boselli is a good coverage LB. May find value as a backup for passing situations.
Boselli is a decent coverage LB, but I don't think he will make our final cuts.
4.16 CB Antoine Murphy, Maryland, 41% developed, 6'1" 212 lbs. 21 yrs. old
LFA: 18/47
PTC: 22/44 (+4/-3)
PS2: 22/40 (0/-4)
A useful backup CB. Murphy should find a place in our rotation and a pop could turn him into a starter.
Not much value here. I have Murphy projected to make the final roster, but I doubt he lasts his entire rookie contract.
Murphy is a M2M specialist. Not much talent elsewhere, so he will likely be cut.
5.20 CB/S Mo Chandler, Georgia Tech, 36% developed, 5'7" 181 lbs. 22 yrs. old
LFA: 12/44
PTC: 14/40 (+2/-4)
PS2: 15/33 (+1/-7)
Chandler looks to have better skills for S than CB. Hopefully he plays much bigger than his size as he's coming in as the smallest player on our roster.
Chandler has the right bar pattern for a S, but his bars are too weak. I'm not sure if he'll make the final roster.
Big drop for an already weak player. Chandler is going to be cut.
6.19 OLB Ryan Hopper, Maryland, 71% developed, 6'1" 252 lbs. 23 yrs. old
LFA: 24/39
PTC: 27/38 (+3/-1)
PS2: 33/46 (+6/+8)
I was grasping at straws here. I was hoping S Stargell would fall to me here. Not sure Hopper will make the final roster.
Not much value here for me. Hopper will probably be cut.
Nice pop will keep Hopper on the roster. Could be a serviceable backup.
7.18 RB Damien Moss, Iona, 49% developed, 6'1" 225 lbs. 24 yrs. old
LFA: 29/43
PTC: 31/44 (+2/+1)
PS2: 26/40 (-5/-4)
I was really hoping for a stud RB out of this draft but couldn't find one. Moss had a terrible combine, but his bar distribution could make him a useful RB. Could see significant playing time this season if his HR bar holds up.
Nothing special about Moss, but his hole rec could make him our lead back this season.
Moss has his uses, but they won't be for us. Traded.
7.28 S K.C. Lyons, SE Missouri St., 40% developed, 5'10" 194 lbs. 23 yrs. old
LFA: 18/48
PTC: 22/49 (+4/+1)
PS2: 23/49 (+1/0)
Decent find at the end of the 7th. Lyons is a backup quality S who can hold his coverages and force passes to other better ballhawking DBs.
Good player this late in the draft. Lyons is a solid backup who can play any coverage and help on run D.
Lyons has his value as a backup S or a starter if needed.
LFA: 55/73
PTC: 61/72 (+6/-1)
PS2: 60/74 (-1/+2)
