2.5 RB Brayden Irwin, Pittsburgh, 37% developed, 5'11" 217 lbs. 22 yrs. old
LFA: 38/56
PTC: 41/54 (+3/-2)
PS2: 40/56 (-1/+2)
Interview: AS
We have one more season before RB Kemp's contract demands become more than we can handle, so we take Irwin to be the immediate backup and potential starter in a couple seasons.
Irwin doesn't look like an elite RB, but still could be good enough to be our starter. Hopefully his HR bumps a little in PS2.
Irwin could be our starter in a year or two. Might be safer to keep him on the bench this season.
3.4 T Casey Lang, Southern Miss, 55% developed, 6'5" 318 lbs. 22 yrs. old
LFA: 17/42
PTC: 22/41 (+5/-1)
PS2: 21/39 (-1/-2)
Interview: VO
Interviewed after picking. We didn't like any of the interviews we had for the guys we were targeting with this pick. Took a chance on a decently intelligent T for the positional value. Not sure if he is worth rostering.
Looking like Lang will need a bump to stay on the roster.
Nothing special about Lang, but we'll keep him on the roster to be a cheap backup.
3.26 RB Aiden Ellard, Notre Dame, 64% developed, 5'11" 218 lbs. 24 yrs. old
LFA: 38/46
PTC: 41/48 (+3/+2)
PS2: 40/47 (-1/-1)
Ellard has big running bars, but little receiving talent. Should be a good depth RB for us.
Not quite sure how Ellard fits on the team at this point, but maybe he'll be a quality backup.
Ellard has decent enough running bars, and he can play ST. However, he may not be talented enough to keep on the roster.
3.29 ILB Shawn Saide, Notre Dame, 60% developed, 5'10" 236 lbs. 24 yrs. old
LFA: 18/44
PTC: 22/42 (+4/-2)
PS2: 23/37 (+1/-5)
Need to keep our defense cheap. Saide can do a little bit of everything on defense. I'm not sure if his bars will hold up with how poor his combine went, but could be a useful backup LB.
Not sure if Saide will fit into the final roster. Might be the odd man out in our soft backups.
The low combines were very telling for Saide, it turns out. Likely to be cut.
4.5 ILB Levi Zaragoza, Texas A&M, 72% developed, 6'2" 255 lbs. 22 yrs. old
LFA: 27/45
PTC: 32/45 (+5/0)
PS2: 37/50 (+5/+5)
Zaragoza has good bar distribution for the ILB position. Could be a useful backup in our system.
Zaragoza is a smart ILB with decent bars in the right places. He's also coming in with an affinity, so he should be a good backup.
Small bump makes Zaragoza look very interesting. Useful backup and potential starter down the road.
4.17 OLB Randall Cross, Georgia, 53% developed, 6'1" 246 lbs. 23 yrs. old
LFA: 23/45
PTC: 27/44 (+4/-1)
PS2: 26/42 (-1/-2)
Cross has a unique bar distribution that I commonly see among 50+ LBs. I think he may be more of a run D and BNR specialist instead of an all around talent.
Cross has a few areas he specializes in, and he's coming in with an affinity. However, I'm not sure if he's good enough to keep on the roster.
Another swing and a miss. Cross has good specific bars, but I don't have much use for a specialist of his type.
5.4 OLB Albert Carlisle, Millersville, 49% developed, 6'3" 272 lbs. 23 yrs. old
LFA: 23/48
PTC: 29/51 (+6/+3)
PS2: 30/56 (+1/+5)
Carlisle is another solid LB. PRS and END are his only true 0 bars. The rest look to have some ability which is a good sign for his rating to hold or increase.
Carlisle is starting to look like a very special situational player. All the talent is looking there, but his endurance will keep him limited.
Another small bump makes Carlisle look like a high value pick. His END is a concern, but his talent should earn him a roster spot.
6.5 S Cooper Donovan, Indiana, 51% developed, 5'8" 190 lbs. 21 yrs. old
LFA: 21/41
PTC: 24/39 (+3/-2)
PS2: 24/37 (0/-2)
Peak rating for Donovan is a little disappointing right now, but he could fit in well with a bar distribution built to play SS in our press-1 heavy system.
Donovan has good BNR and INT bars making him ideal as a SS in a press system. We're very light at DB, so he may get a spot on the team by default.
Donovan is not a great looking player, but we'll probably have him coming off the bench for a year or 2 because we lack depth in the secondary.
7.4 S Brad Garza, Western Illinois, 73% developed, 6'0" 208 lbs. 24 yrs. old
LFA: 36/56
PTC: 42/54 (+6/-2)
PS2: 43/56 (+1/+2)
Garza looks like a potential 7th round steal. I'm not quite sure how he'll fit in with the team as a CB or S yet. Potentially a starter at either spot.
Garza is a solid run defender with a little bit of coverage ability. Could develop into a starting SS.
Really good find in the 7th. Garza has the potential to be our starting SS.
LFA: 38/56
PTC: 41/54 (+3/-2)
