Trying to find an OC in SP that fits a certain scheme to create a new play book. As I go through teams to find who would fit, I'm also finding that the same OC's schemes change each time you try to load a new SP career.
Example: Load Buffalo and Daboll has smashmouth. Load another SP career and Daboll has Air Coryell.
How are you supposed to find the scheme you want if it changes?

In SP I just run the first year automatically, then in the Staff Draft I get the scheme coordinators I want and start from there. The first season is meaningless to me, unless I have guys I want.
Also, I hire a young guy with the scheme I want and keep him as long as I can, just to see how much he will improve during his career. Then I also don't have to worry about guys retiring and then constantly finding new guys.

PS - I also play with a random player file and don't keep the coach file either, so everything is randomized. I hate to see a player I like rated badly, so I prefer fictional players and coaches.

I'm using this strictly to create a play book. I'm not playing seasons. I don't care about the team. I just want an OC with the scheme I want to better create a play book.

Yeah, then definitely just start a new SP game, and fast forward to the next season. Then in Staff Draft pick a guy that has the scheme you want.
However, it doesn't really matter if you aren't going to use the playbook in the SP game. You can create a Smashmouth playbook with an Air Coryell OC if you want. It doesn't matter. When you create a play, you can see how well it works in whatever scheme you want to use. The coordinator doesn't matter unless you are using the playbook in that game. You can create a playbook, save it, and never use it in the actual SP game you started.

I understand you can do it that way, but if you have the right OC with the scheme you want, then creating plays becomes easier. When you set the play threshold to 1 and then use Guided Play Generator, it will create plays that are ideal for the scheme your OC is....rather than a bunch of random plays. Less changing that has to be done this way. I can create, say, 20 plays at once with the scheme I want and maybe 3-4 come out some other scheme. Easier to change those 3-4 than possibly 15 or so.
