I don't know why Maloney was drawing so many targets. I ended up taking him out of a a bunch of formations and switching his role just so we'd throw at him less.

I think it's a little unfair to place all the blame on Max for the downfall of Atlanta as I was still doing the game planning. If anything I have as much responsibility for the bad season as Max.
There were some issues with the team that Max had no control over... As for game planning, there were more than usual amount of key injuries, plus I didn't adjust my play calling to the team this year, especially when Duffy got injured.
Max was 2-1 in the last 3 games and I was with Cleveland, so obviously I wasn't doing something right and I didn't make the necessary adjustments.
I believe the team will be much better next season without me slowing Max down.

I was led by you saying you wrote a gameplan and indicated a wish for a QB switch for our game, and Max didn't enter your GP or make the switch. It just didn't seem like things were ticking like when you guys were 16-0. You were both posting daily and seemed very positive at that point. Ultimately I will never the know the specifics of what went down and who should take the credit for the good results or blame for the bad.

yo.. that was awesome... loved all the dolphins talk... thx for the "analysis" and the press...
my thoughts
1. chemistry good, but i did rip the team apart.. so, cohesion needs to get better before we can win consistently.. now that i have my "core" there, cohesion will improve.. i tend to keep guys i trade for... but i'll need a new qb in the not too distant future....
2. you are 100% correct about "special teams".. always been an afterthought for me.. gotta pay more attention to it....
3. i'm in three leagues.. as a lot of you are... I use he same playbook and gameplans in all three leagues (to make it easier for me).. focused on spreading the ball around, lots of medium passing- and running the ball...they (gp) are much more successful in the other two leagues because i have better qbs.... i agree i need a different one for this league, cuz middleton throws too many picks... i need to shorten the routes.. was hoping he'd be able to execute better..
4. lack of draft picks.. i can't draft.. mystery to me even after reading Malcpows thread 100 times... it was mentioned that talent level is high for a chemistry team.. not an accident... i trade picks for young talented players that fit my chemistry instead of trying to get lucky in the draft... i got rid of a bunch trying to set this team up.. it almost worked.. we could have been 10-6, 9-7 this season with a couple better bounces.... and QB Middleton sucked all year running my gameplan that didn't suit him.. guys i traded for are young, though..
5. i don't understand why nick hates TE Pierce G Sanford G Benton so much,,, i thought they were all ok.. stats weren't bad at all... he hurt their feelings..
anyway.. thx for the well thought out analysis of my squad.. always interesting to see what somebody thinks...
and the rest of the video... great job, i look forward to the next one... good luck to the playoff teams....

5. i don't understand why nick hates TE Pierce G Sanford G Benton so much,,, i thought they were all ok.. stats weren't bad at all... he hurt their feelings.. Just my thoughts on those guys, but Pierce's RR looks a little too low to be a reliable target. Catching less than 50% of his targets right now. Should improve a little bit as he develops but I personally don't like having receivers with RR that low. Think you want your TEs at above 7 ypt. I'd be surprised if Pierce could do that. Stanford's rating is kind of boosted by his high blocking strength bar, but the actual effect of that bar seems to be minimal. I would pretty much look at him and just see a guy that's 50ish in run blocking and pass blocking. Not terrible, but not great. Benton is similar in rating but his bigger problem is his low intelligence. Don't really want a guy like that starting unless he has a very high rating. He's just going to draw too many penalties and penalties from offensive lineman usually turn into drive killers. Stanford is an important chemistry leader for you so you pry need to keep him, but the other guys are worth looking to replace if you can.

Ultimately I will never the know the specifics of what went down and who should take the credit for the good results or blame for the bad. That is correct, Duffy was healthy and not entered into the game. But that was just one game. I realized I gameplanned incorrectly for the backup that Max brought in. And I was ready to adjust the gameplan, but with Duffy healthy and me not hearing anything from Max, I assumed Duffy would start. Duffy was still inactive for your game, and the gameplan I sent to Max was not used, plus there was no file from Atlanta that week. But again, that was only one game. It's also true that I didn't hear from Max for a while during the middle of the season... but he was still using the gameplans I sent him and making adjustments to the team. As he himself said, he was frustrated and checking out. Frankly, I was becoming frustrated myself and may have been phoning it in a bit as well. I just want it to be clear I was still working with the team, and that I take my part of the responsibility for the decline of the team. I got a lot of credit from you, Nick, when the team was doing well as you said more than once that my game planning was very hard to play against. I would also like my share of the credit when the team played badly... that's all. I don't want anyone to think that i'm a) a fair weather friend. When I'm responsible, I'll take responsibility. b) That I only want praise and glory. I can take it if someone gives me constructive criticism. I think I've been clear that I want to learn and develop into a good GM... can't do that if all people do is say nice things about you... then you just end up with a big head.

We would like to do a deep dive on a different team each week. Ideally we would be looking at a team that doesn't usually get a lot of attention. If you want the 'Nick' treatment, let us know and we'll breakdown your strengths and weaknesses
