Realism is not the strength of FOF... unless you want to consider seasonal numbers. FOF is, after all is said and done, a statistics generator. As we all know, the dice are the king. EVERYTHING that happens is a dice roll in FOF. Some just have a bigger effect on the game than others. There are weights and adjustments and variables, etc. etc. etc... but ultimately every play is generated based on an algorithm whose goal is to create the most realistic SEASONAL stats. NOT the most realistic plays.
Believe me when I say this: If you start worrying about the realism of specific plays, and you go through all the logs... you'll go crazy in less than 5 FOF seasons. Mad Hatter, Bat Shit Crazy type of stuff. In this season alone I was thinking that "this result is impossible based on the circumstances" at least a dozen times. Of course, I've gone through a lot of game logs this season... I'm considering an article comparing real life football to FOF, but I feel it would be more rant than informative or interesting, so it's not likely to happen.
In other words... don't let it bother you.

the worse aspect is nearly every wr in the pattern was negative. like the perfect storm. This play is gonna suuuuuck

We throw a screen---------- seattle has both safety's in deep zone but somehow the deep FREE safety intercepts the pass! WTF! i'd say the fof def engine is more realistic compared to the 2010 NFL than today's NFL is!
not only the plays that are generated, but also the sequence of plays/drives. that's why going over game logs is so fun.
i've always taken the fof def coverages as immediately pre-snap. post snap is a different story. i could imagine the QB taking 5s to make a decision in this play that was a complete wreck in terms of route running, and the FS jumping in to grab a tipped screen pass (remember that deep zone is just 11 yds from the LOS!).
