We're back again for another RZB draft. I will do my best to analyze the picks made in the first round. Keep in mind, I'm not Timmy, but I think I've gotten a little better.
Here we go.
1.1 - CLEVELAND - RB - DeANDRE NORDSTROM - OREGON
Pro's: Speed. Power. Vision. Hands. Basically, everything
Con's: If you had to pick something. He can't pick up a blitz. That shouldn't be a problem, because he'll be catching passes in most situations.
Overall: Nordstrom is a franchise saving player. He will be able to take the offense on his back and carry it. He has the skills to do everything on offense. He can run through guys. He can run around guys. Once around the corner, he'll separate himself from the defenders. He has great hands and will be a weapon in the passing game.

1.2 - BUFFALO - QB - MASON DUFF - PITTSBURGH STATE
Pro's: Best QB in the draft. Can make all the passes. Sees the defense well and can avoid sacks. Cool under pressure.
Con's: No legs. Only average accuracy.
Overall: Duff could turn into one of the league's top QB's if what we saw in college translates to the pros. He is a pure pocket passer who has a great sense for the rush and a quick release. If he has to move out of the pocket, he could be in trouble. He has great vision to read the play and get the ball to the open man. Another franchise type player.

1.3 - LA RAMS - S - FREDERICK GOODSON - MINNESOTA
Pro's: Great against the run. Great against the pass. Great in special teams. Well conditioned.
Con's: Not a return guy
Overall: Goodson is the prototypical defensive back. He can do it all. He can cover any receiver like a blanket. He can move up to play the run. He has great vision to read where the QB is going with the ball and can react. He's a ball hawk that will get his fair share of interceptions. He's in great shape, so he can be on the field every down.

1.4 - CLEVELAND - TE - RAMON MATICIC - OKLAHOMA
Pro's: Speed. Great blocking ability. Great hands and fearless over the middle.
Con's: Only average route runner. Conditioning could be an issue.
Overall: Maticic looks to be a solid pick at the TE position. Not sure I would put him in the top 5. He needs work learning and executing his routes. He's a great blocker, so with Cleveland's new RB, he can certainly create room in the run game. He's got great hands and speed, so when he catches the ball he can turn it into a long gain. His conditioning may come into play if he's on the field too much.

1.5 - NEW ORLEANS - QB - HARVEY DUNNIGAN - UCLA
Pro's: Strong arm. Cool under pressure. Good awareness.
Con's: Doesn't have good touch on the short passes.
Overall: If Buffalo found their guy in Duff, then New Orleans found theirs in Dunnigan. Dunnigan can see the rush and avoid it. He can find the open man and times the routes with the best of them. Like Duff though, he doesn't use his legs well. He's more of a pocket passer. He's got a strong arm to throw the deep ball and generally connects.

1.6 - NY GIANTS - RB - ALEXIS MATTHEWS - SOUTHERN METHODIST
Pro's: Speed. Power. Great hands. Conditioning.
Con's: Not much. Film showed a tendency to miss the gaps once in a while.
Overall: Matthews is a speed back that once in the open is gone. He gets around the corner quick and can make defenders miss. If asked to stay in and block, he can do that. Send him out on routes, he can do that as well. He does need a little work on his route running, but that will come over time. He's going to be a great player to build an offense around.

1.7 - LA CHARGERS - OLB - CARSON BILETNIKOFF - MARYLAND
Pro's: Has all the tools. Every down player. Pass rush. Run defense
Con's: Not much. Could work on his pass rushing moves a bit. But now we're nitpicking.
Overall: With a name like Biletnikoff there's a little pressure to have a hall of fame career. But Carson is up to it. On film this kid looked unstoppable and gave opposing offenses fits. He didn't do as well in the combine based on what we saw on film, but on the field performance is what counts. He'll come to camp a little raw, but should develop into an all pro LB.

1.8 - BALTIMORE - CB - THEODORE BUTLER - CALIFORNIA
Pro's: Pass coverage. Big hitter. Special teams.
Con's: Run defense. Man to man.
Overall: Butler plays the position well. He's better suited against the pass than he is against the run. He needs to improve his man coverage, but put him in zone and he can cover a lot of ground. He gets to the ball and should pick off his fair share of passes. He's a big kid for a CB and hits like it.

1.9 - MIAMI - ILB - JALEN BLANEY - TENNESSEE
Pro's: Run defense. Strong. Pass coverage. Big hitter.
Con's: Weak zone. Average conditioning.
Overall: Blaney looks solid all around. Game film shows he's able to track the ball carrier and wrap up to make the tackle. He sees the plays develop and in coverage can make a play. Seems to do better in man coverage than zone. He's a very strong pass rusher and has the speed to run down a QB. Because of his conditioning, he may struggle to be an every down player.

1.10 - SAN FRANCISCO - WR - KENT TYLKE - CLEMSON
Pro's: Excellent route running. Speed. Breakaway ability.
Con's: Conditioning.
Overall: Tylke is a fast, shifty receiver. He can make the catch and then turn a short gain into a big one. He's fast so once he gets away from the defenders, he's tough to catch. Only drawback is his conditioning. He gets tired quick so if the 49ers are in hurry up, his play may suffer. Nathan Edmond has been waiting for a #1 target and management gave him one.

1.11 - CLEVELAND - S - ETHAN KUCHARSKI - ARKANSAS STATE
Pro's: Pass coverage. Defends the run. Size. Special teams.
Con's: Weak hitter for his size. Doesn't get picks.
Overall: Kucharski will defend the pass very well, he just get many picks. When we watched film on him we saw a kid that can read the play and react quick enough to break it up. But he has hands like bricks. He plays the run well also, but for a kid his size he doesn't hit as hard as you'd think. But he will wrap up and make the tackle.

1.5 - NEW ORLEANS - QB - HARVEY DUNNIGAN - UCLAPro's: Strong arm. Cool under pressure. Good awareness. Con's: Doesn't have good touch on the short passes. Grade: A+ sooo does this mean Dunnigan is a bust then? since we picked Duff here in Buffalo, Cleveland certainly didn't find their guy in him....... great feature i like it
