My wife works for the NHS and attended a meeting late last week. Again the same stats came out as Merkel suggested, 60-70% of the population will catch this virus. No ifs or buts. Still struggling to buy that. Is it just BS to make health serve staff think "oh well better crack on". Huge temptation to go off long term sick with "stress" or whatever you can think of on full pay. Health service staff are dropping with the virus pretty heavily.
Latest research is summer won't be a huge help until temps get up to around 26-28C consistently. They are expecting a curve lasting 3 to 4 months. Biggest concern is the 2nd wave of the virus. Strong chance it mutates in to something worse as per the Spanish Flu. These virus tend to last a couple of years and come in waves, then often disappear.
Most countries are going to get hit hard, although South Korea dealt with it exceptionally well. Most likely we are just getting started in the UK and US. Going to kill just enough people to make sure we change everything, likely 4 figure deaths before we get a break before it kicks off again.

The Chinese government had to do something to stop the Hong Kong protests.

One of my wifes doctors contacted us on Monday to ask us to self isolate for the full 16 weeks, yesterday was so weird, not massively different from day to day for me but knowing if I go out I could potentially compromise my wife.
Luckily I live in a rural area so me and the lad went for a run round the fields, no cars on the road, eerily quiet, like Christmas. I spoke to Noah's Head Teacher yesterday - he all but said that they think they'll be closed by Monday next week.
I don't think my generation has ever faced a situation so dangerously fluid, hopefully the better news coming out of the first areas infected gives us a model of time structure.
Be safe peeps

Be safe peeps 16 weeks??? Or days? Currently weeks, that's the current advice, she suffers from osteomalacia which affects her bones and tietzes syndrome which affects her cartilages, all this combined can make her, at times, practically disabled from the neck down for periods of time. She struggles to breath and takes a multitude of prescription drugs, including morphine. The worry is she has a compromised immune system and the tablets she already takes are the ones they would try and use to treat C19.

Brace yourself for winter...

The people that are not taking this shit seriously are fucking morons. The entire world has practically shut down and so many asshats are acting like this is still politically motivated.

My shop is in the shit right now. All bowling centers have closed. So I currently have no one to sell balls to because they can't go use them. We're going to end up shutting down. The owner of the store is in full panic mode. It's certainly not a good situation.
