It ended up being too much work for me but I would be interested in seeing total profits from teams over the years. It wouldn’t surprise me if some teams like the Lions would be in some serious debt if you calculated their net-income over their existence. Wes has been given a Herculean task trying to fix the Lions.

Wes has been given a Herculean task trying to fix the Lions. I'd guess about 1/3 of the league is in serious debt. It's really hard to get a bigger stadium and even harder to fill it enough to make a profit given how much team expenses have increased over the years.

Only a few teams every year aren't profitable and usually the best years dwarf the worst years. I know I texted you a while back that you were like -250 million in the hole since you took over Washington. But you could reasonably make that up one or two years. You'll probably be positive 150-200 million just this season. And I think the Commanders were still in the green overall. The Lions on the other hand haven't had a profitable season since 2042 and their best season ever was in 2015 which was the league's inaugural season. If I did my math right, the Lions had a little over 1 billion in total profits around the time of the 2042 season. Now they're sitting at over 500 million dollars in the hole. And that's before calculating the debt from this season which, with record low attendance, is shaping up to be the most disastrous financial season in league history.

I went in taking over the team and was going to firesale. No matter what i did i felt like i was going to get crushed cap and the talent is lacking in some major areas. I have a QB. I want to have 3 total idol players and build and offense that can sort of play with people as i revamp the defense.
This is Awesome btw Clown
QB Kinney is easily a top 10 QB at this point and i think will be better then that in time. We relied on him a little too much maybe this year but we were in every single game. It always seemed like we were down 3-10 at the end of every game.
Backfield-Houghtlin is legit 1100 total yards and really like this 2nd year kid to spell him LT.
Receivers-We are thick at TE Thompson is a beast at 14 YPC and 2nd most 20 yard plays. Out backup Drudge would start on most teams. We started the season 3 deep with good WRS but two got hurt. Buchman was on pace for a career year and 1500 yards until an ACL took him down. Year 10 this man is probably done. We have Benton 2nd year kid that came on late this year with injuries that will take the starting gig most likely and Kaplan who had 95 catches on the year.
Oline-We picked up a C ONeal off the street in like week 3-4 and he had probably the worst season a lineman could have 14 sacks allowed and 24% pass blocking. WE were stuck with the cap but we should have played our 14 rated R free agent on the bench.... Gs White and Powell are good but i am not ok with 12 sacks allowed from 2 Gs. Out LT sSChneider is going to lose his job to 3rd year 2nd rounder Jaylen Elliot. We are probably going to move on from Schneider at this point 7/25 RBs and 5 sacks allowed in 12 games we benched him. RT Aguillar let in too many sacks too but he is a good legit starter in only year 4.
Punter and Kicker are going. I think we had 7 kicks blocked this year...Punts and Field Goals yes thank you it was that bad.
Defensive line-Really fucked ourselves here when i thought we would be ok. Buddy Clanton is probably our best DE and he had 1 sack on the year 60 rated dude plsu he had a career low 37 tackles really unimpressed and need to get some competition for him. WE got 6 sacks from Ferrel who would normally be a pass rush specialist backup but was forced to start. He is part of the reason the run defense was so subpar but not his fault. Square peg round hole. Our one DT Drake Marlow probably had the best season for our defensive line and that tells you something 56 tackles 3 sacks .
LInebackers-PLichta is a monster in the middle. He is marginal in zone defense but we starting to put him to rush the passer towards the end of the year to keep him on the field and play defensive end to help against the run(hence tying the tackles in a single season). After that we have Deshawn Cortez who we benched after week 4 due to being so subpar for 2 who combined for about 90 tackles 1 sack and 74% pass defense. Needs upgrading all around.
Defensive backs-Our corners played pretty well with all things considered. Our best CB Dennis got hurt week 4 and had 82% pass defense in those first few games. Satchwell was going to be our Nickel but had to start and the 8th year Vet has lost a step having his first subpar 80 percent pass defense in his career but still was like 77.8. 2nd year kid Emmit Finch is going to be a good player but was better in year one. WE had a few lucky UDFA Cbs in Hardy and SHotwell who i think could be good nickel guys and had 78% pass defense with 2 picks on the year. 2nd year S Kelly Fulton is legit probably our 2nd best player or top5 player on our team had a good not great year but 91 tackles 1 pick and 78% pass defense is not shabby. WE only had one other S on the roster due to cap issues Leroy Molan who was tired ALL SEASON had an ok year but need someone to sub with him to get the most out of the secondary leader.
I loved the pick WR Don MOntgomery when we took him. He is 71 and 51 in returns and nice special teamer that can play WR for us but had 3 fumbles on returns. I cannot have that on my return team.
Nasty- Salary Cap-$333,200,000 Cap used next year $340,410,000
Wait a second...WE barely were able to set up a team this year and now i am probably already at the cap with a lackluster talent team? WHo is my cap heavy guys-
PLichta ok that one hurts arguably our MVP but 24million cap hit ouch that is the highest paid...3 more years ton of cap hit to move on from. No problem we can get enough out of him need to curtail the other linebackers to work here i guess.
10th year torn ACL WR Buchman not as high as most 22 Mill cap hit but he is hurt and takes up 24 Mill next year...
7th year WR Trent Kaplan 19.2 Mill ok so so for a good WR but i cannot afford to pay Benton and pay these other guys either.
LB Deshawn Cortez got benched if you read through all this mularkey and is making 8th most for an OLB ouch need him to come back and step up huge i have to play and use him.
8th year CB Brent Satchwell who we talked about has some diminishing talents and stats. His salary gets a little friendlier the next two years though.
I do not think we lose anyone that matters and we do not franchise anyone this year.
My worry is 5ht year QB Kinney neeeds to get paid. He has a hefty top 5 salary next year and under contract 3 more years at least. PLayers on their last year deals next year i probably cannot sign them all- LG RG LT DE OLB FS
all are going to want more money.
We do have BUffalo's pick next year but that is at least a 20th or later pick to go along with our 2nd pick overall.
3 idolized players 2 of them are in year 1 or 2 plus Kinney.

Complete list is up. We should be finished with the stadium payment in '61. Rolling out a grass field and the parking lot is garbage.
EDIT: This is as far down the rabbit hole as I'm going with this. Good stuff tho.

You want some evidence of the Wes turning things around in Detroit? Ticket revenue up 86%, suite revenue up 51%, advertising up 47%, parking up 1033%!! and concessions up 1166%!!
Expect similar improvement this year. Slowly but surely the fans are returning.
